The 2014 BRIT Awards went off at the London O2 Arena this week, attracting its lowest viewing figures of the 21st century. The ceremony marked James Corden’s final time as host, and saw Arctic Monkeys and One Direction walk away with two awards apiece.
The former act also performed, as did Beyonce, Katy Perry, Disclosure with Lorde, Rudimental with Bastille, Pharrell with Nile Rodgers and Bruno Mars.
Ellie Goulding was named Best British Female, while David Bowie won Best British Male. Kate Moss accepted his trophy on his behalf.
In the international categories, Daft Punk scooped Best International Group, while Lorde won Best International Female and Bruno Mars went home with Best International Male. Bastille won best British Breakthrough Act, while Rudimental took Best British Single for ‘Waiting All Night’, their tune with Ella Eyre.
The ceremony only just creeped over the 4 million viewer mark, logging a significant 2 million loss on the 2013 event. However, it was also streamed on YouTube, and became one of the most tweeted-about broadcasts in history.
