Christopher Maloney has revealed that he was assaulted on a recent night out. The former X Factor star, who will be releasing his first single later this year, was recognised while out and about in Liverpool with his family and 4-year-old nephew.
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, he recalled:
He added:“I heard one shout, ‘You’re that guy off X Factor’. Then they all started. They called my nan, who’s 77, a slag and a sl*t. Luckily she wasn’t with me.”
“As we drove out of the car park, the car window was smashed, I was scared for my life and so worried about my nephew. He was crying and there were shards of glass on his legs. We all screamed.
“X Factor needs a better support network, so people know what to expect. I was very naive when I went on the show. There are always a few who take things too far. I’ve had to grow such a thick skin.”
He explained that he never goes out alone anymore, saying:
“I don’t venture out at night unless I have at least three people with me. I don’t get public transport because of safety. I even went to the doctor because I felt so shaken up.”
‘My Heart Belongs To You’, Maloney’s debut single, is out on October 6.
