Miley Cyrus has been criticised by a number of famous faces for her performance at the MTV VMAs at the weekend. The star performed her global chart-topper ‘We Can’t Stop’ at the ceremony, before joining Robin Thicke for a performance of his smash ‘Blurred Lines’.
The former Hannah Montana star was seen dancing provocatively with a foam finger, and has been facing a heavy backlash in recent days from all corners.
Kelly Clarkson did not directly mention Cyrus but certainly implied she wasn’t a fan of the sing-song when she tweeted: “Just saw a couple performances from the VMA’s last night. 2 words…. #pitchystrippers”.
Even pal Kelly Osbourne appeared critical, though seemed reluctant to go into depth. She said on E!’s Fashion Police:
“I look at the performance and yes, I do have a lot of the same opinions as you guys about it. But we’re not talking about her performance – we’re talking about what she’s wearing.”
She later added:
“Miley’s my friend and I love her, and I have her back no matter what, but as her friend I’m going to tell her, ‘Put your f**king tongue in your mouth. I love you, but just put your tongue in your mouth’.”
Thicke’s mother has also waded in, saying:
“I haven’t seen this new incarnation of Miley Cyrus yet. I was not expecting her to be putting her butt that close to my son. The problem is now I can never un-see it.
“I don’t understand what Miley Cyrus is trying to do. I just don’t understand. I think she’s misbegotten in this attempt of hers, and I think it was not beneficial.”
What did you think of the performance?
