One Direction heart-throb Zayn Malik and Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards have taken to Twitter following news that they are engaged.
The couple, who have been dating since early 2012, were confirmed earlier this week to be set for a glitzy pop wedding at some point in the foreseeable future.
Perrie provoked a flurry of speculation when she was spotted on the red carpet with a rock on her ring finger, and the news was then confirmed by her brother and mother.
Zayn wrote on Twitter tonight:
“Never been more happy in my life ! Thank you to everyone that has been so lovely about my engagement to my beautiful fiancé ! Big love z X”
Perrie added:
“Iv also never felt so happy! 🙂 Thank you everyone for being so kind and supportive! Im a lucky girl! xD I Love you all! Perrie <3”

Zayn has hastened to add that there are currently no plans for the wedding just yet.
One Direction are currently promoting their first venture on to the big screen – This Is Us, which is directed by Morgan Spurlock and due in cinemas next weekend.
