He played a supporting role in the Twilight Saga and is destined to go on to bigger and better things – but actor Kellan Lutz has claimed that he actually turned down the opportunity to play the leading man.
Edward Cullen was portrayed by Robert Pattinson in all of the hugely successful vampire films, propelling the Brit to global superstardom and an almost unmatched level of popularity.
However, it could have all been very different if Lutz, who ended up playing Emmett Cullen, is to be believed.
“The role [Edward Cullen] just didn’t… I just didn’t care to entertain it,” he explained to Access Hollywood Live. “I really wanted to play a happy role or no role for a little bit.”
He went on:
“I didn’t care to audition for [the role of Edward] because he was a bit moody and emotionally challenged. But then I loved Emmett… I’m so blessed to have been able to play him.”
Would he ever return to the series? He says yes.
“I love everyone. I loved to work with everyone and I loved my role,” he reasoned. “I’d love to play Emmett again or even another role in it.”
