The family of the late Michael Jackson have been unsuccessful in their lawsuit against tour promoters AEG Live. The jury in the case found that Dr Conrad Murray – convicted over his 2009 death – was not unfit or incompetent to work, unlike what the family tried to prove.
They said the company was “negligent” in hiring Murray, but they fiercely denied the claims – and have now come out on top. They always maintained that it was Michael himself who hired the doctor, not them. Nonetheless, the Jackson family sought $40 million in damages.
Murray will be released from jail later this month, after serving two years behind bars for involuntary manslaughter.
Michael Jackson died of an overdose of propofol on June 25, 2009 – just before he was set to hit the road once again on a new world tour, which was meant to commence in London.
