Simon Cowell has confirmed recent rumours that he is to become a father.
The X Factor USA honcho was reported late last month to have fathered a child with New York socialite Lauren Silverman, ahead of her divorce from estranged husband Andrew.

Cowell was speaking to reporters on the red carpet of One Direction’s new movie This Is Us in London last night when he said he was “proud” to be set to become a first-time parent.
He said:
“Things are changing in my life right now, for the better. I’m proud to be a dad… It’s something I hadn’t thought of before, but now I feel good about it.”
And of the mother? He described Lauren as “a very special girl”.
The Silvermans finalised their divorce last week, with Andrew apparently citing adultery.
