Legendary producer and songwriter Dr Luke is reportedly in line to take up a judging role on American Idol. The hitmaker has produced hits for a vast array of artists, most notably Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson and Katy Perry.
He was reportedly approached when talks with will.i.am broke down over disagreements over his fee. Keith Urban is so far the only confirmed panelist on the show’s upcoming season, following the departures of Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Randy Jackson earlier this year.

Jennifer Lopez is widely reported to be making a comeback, and her re-hiring seemed to be confirmed by her boyfriend Casper Smart in an interview last week.
American Idol will start filming next month.
