Former Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh has discussed the collapse of her friendship with ex-bandmate Nadine Coyle.
The pair were the best of friends when the band was formed on Popstars The Rivals in 2002, but as the years passed Kimberley became noticably closer with Cheryl Cole and Nicola Roberts.
Speaking on Magic FM in support of her new book A Whole Lot Of History, she said: “Nadine and I lived together in the beginning of the group, so it’s obvious that at some point you’re going to explain how that kind of drifting apart did happen.
“But it’s obvious to see, she moved to LA and she wasn’t around as much. And you just form close friendships with certain people.”
She added:
“[Talking about it in my book] wasn’t so much about needing everyone to know what my relationship is with each girl, it’s just that, as you’re telling the story, it naturally happens.”
The star admitted that she has a lot of love for Coyle and Sarah Harding, but it’s Cole and Roberts who are her closest pals. “As a group and working together, it always worked brilliantly for us, something really special happened when all five of us were together performing.
“But in terms of who I see outside of work, who I go on holiday with and go for dinner with it would be Cheryl and Nicola.”
