Charlie Hunnam has walked out of his role in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades Of Grey.
The actor announced over the weekend that he would no longer be able to fulfill his commitment to the three-movie series, due to his involvement with TV drama Sons Of Anarchy.
A statement from Universal says:
“The filmmakers of Fifty Shades Of Grey and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead, given Hunnam’s immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey.”
EL James, who wrote the books, wrote on Twitter:
“I wish Charlie all the best. x”
Hunnam has not publicly commented on the news, nor has Dakota Johnson – who will play Anastasia Steele in the films. Sources have since claimed that Hunnam got cold feet, telling The Hollywood Reporter that he had to hire bodyguards on a recent shoot because of all of the attention on him.
