Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus go way back – so it made sense for the X Factor USA judge to defend her one-time BFF over her recent behaviour.
Cyrus has courted constant backlash over recent months; with racy music videos, an outrageous performance at the MTV VMAs and, more recently, a feud with Sinead O’Connor.
Demi said during a TV interview this week: “I’ve said this a million times: I know Britney [Spears] and Miley very well, Miley has been one of my best friends growing up, and I’m happy for her.

“She’s doing what she wants to do, and this is her time to break out and figure out what she wants to do in her career, [with] her image and everything.”
She went on:
”I’m happy seeing her happy, because I love her so much… She doesn’t care what people think, nor should she.”
Demi said in the past that she and Miley used to have explosive rows during their Disney days, but would always make up in the end.
