Harry Potter author JK Rowling has sensationally revealed that she regrets the way she ended the wizarding franchise – admitting she may have got it wrong when it came to pairing up the characters.
Ron Weasley (played on film by Rupert Grint) ended up with Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) – but Rowling has now said that she wishes she’d have set up Hermione with Daniel Radcliffe’s titular hero.
“I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfillment,” she told Wonderland. “For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron.
“Distance has given me perspective on that… It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility.”
Watson was interviewing the writer for the magazine, and seemed to agree with her.
“I think there are fans out there who know that too and who wonder whether Ron would have really been able to make her happy,” she considered.
