Lady Gaga has admitted that the injury she sustained on her hip while on tour was a lot more serious than she let on. The star had to scrap the last few dates on her Ball This Way Ball jaunt earlier this year because doctors told her she couldn’t ignore the physical problems she was suffering any longer.
“My injury was actually a lot worse than just a labral tear,” she told Women’s Wear Daily. “I had broken my hip. Nobody knew, and I haven’t even told the fans yet. “But when we got all the MRIs finished before I went to surgery there were giant craters, a hole in my hip the size of a quarter, and the cartilage was just hanging out the other side of my hip.”
She revealed: “I had a tear on the inside of my joint and a huge breakage. “The surgeon told me that if I had done another show I might have needed a full hip replacement. I would have been out at least a year, maybe longer.”
Luckily, she is now all better – and will release her new single ‘Applause’ on August 19, ending months of speculation surrounding her third album, ARTPOP – which itself is due in November.
Gaga’s last two albums, The Fame and Born This Way, have both produced massive worldwide smash hits, including ‘Poker Face’, ‘Bad Romance’, ‘Judas’ and ‘Marry The Night’, as well as Beyonce duet ‘Telephone’.
Who’s looking forward to her new music?
