90s romcom icon Meg Ryan has been unveiled as the narrator of How I Met Your Mother spin-off How I Met Your Dad.
CBS has yet to officially confirm the casting, although multiple outlets have now claimed to have the news as official.
It’s not the only new comedy project on Ryan’s slate, as she’s also due to appear in a new sitcom for NBC about a single mother working in publishing in New York City.
How I Met Your Dad will tell the story of the main character telling her children how she and her father met; with Ryan providing the voice-over for Sally – who will be played on-screen by Greta Gerwig.
In How I Met Your Mother, the equivalent job was undertaken by Bob Saget, who did the voiceover for “future” Ted.
HIMYM wrapped its series finale last month with a conclusion that divided fans down the middle.
