Sam Bailey will be named this week’s official No1 thanks to her album The Power Of Love, if she maintains her midweek lead.

The mother of two will be the first X Factor winner since 2009 to top the album chart with her first album if she maintains her early lead over Wilko Johnson, who is currently at No2.

Alexandra Burke was the last champion to manage the feat, thanks to her opus Overcome. Prior to that, Leona Lewis, Shayne Ward and Steve Brookstein also hit the summit.

However, all subsequent victors have failed to reach the very top – with Little Mix and Joe McElderry reaching No3, and James Arthur and Matt Cardle settling for No2.

Sam has also revealed that she did not get to meet Beyonce when she opened up for the icon at the Birmingham date of her Mrs Carter Show World Tour last month.

The former prison warden admitted being “gutted” but ultimately unsurprised.
