Shrek is set to return for a fifth outing, despite its fourth being billed as the last in the franchise.
Following on from Shrek, Shrek 2, Shrek The Third and Shrek Forever After, Dreamworks have confirmed today that yet another outing from the animated ogre is set to hit screens – although there are no concrete plans on when exactly it will be released.
CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg told Fox Business News:
“We like to let them have a little bit of time to rest.
“But I think you can be confident that we’ll have another chapter in the Shrek series. We’re not finished, and more importantly, neither is he.”
That’s not the only Shrek news to come out this week – as an attraction dedicated to the Mike Meyers-voiced beast has been confirmed for London, by the company responsible for the London Eye.
“This landmark attraction, which will transport visitors through a live interactive adventure featuring Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, Puss in Boots and other favourites from the beloved franchise, will see an initial rollout of six attractions over nine years,” they said in a statement.
