The author who wrote the books behind the hugely successful Twilight franchise has admitted that she is “so over it”. Stephenie Meyer confessed that the popular series of books is now “not a happy place” for her, and she wants to move on to new projects.
“I get further away [from Twilight] every day,” she told Variety. “I am so over it. For me, it’s not a happy place to be.”
When quizzed on whether she would ever go back to writing about Twilight, Meyer said:
“What I would probably do is three paragraphs on my blog saying which of the characters died. I’m interested in spending time in other worlds, like Middle-earth.”
The Twilight series of films made worldwide megastars of actors Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, and grossed over $3.3 billion at the box office around the world.
Meyer’s new project The Host was released in March. Her next work will be Austenland, a romantic comedy which she has produced.
