Anna Kendrick has shared her bemusement at the success of her song ‘Cups’ from the movie Pitch Perfect. The movie came out in 2012, but the track that Kendrick performs in the comedy has enjoyed enduring success – and has proven a smash hit on the US Billboard charts.
In fact, the song has now clocked up five weeks on the Top 10, eight months after its initial release.
Posting to Instagram, Kendrick wrote:
“How I feel about having a song in the billboard top ten for five weeks. #ItDefiesLogic” – and added a video of her simply sitting, silently, looking baffled.
The video accompanying the track has racked up a mammoth 43.7 million views in the four months it has been online.
Kendrick was nominated for Choice Movie Actress: Comedy at the Teen Choice Awards for her role in the film, and the film’s ensemble cast won Best Musical Moment at the MTV Movie Awards.
The movie also made a star of Rebel Wilson in her role as Fat Amy, and she has now landed her own sitcom, which will premiere in October.
