The X Factor ‘dark horse’ Luke Friend has won the support of singing superstar Adele. Friend, noted for his gravelly voice and wild hairdo, was praised by the multi-million selling songstress after he landed in the Bottom Two of the public vote over the weekend.
In a head-to-head battle with Sam Callahan, Luke sang U2’s ‘Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’, winning buckets of acclaim from Adele.
She wrote on Twitter:“Whoa Luke Friend was ridiculously good in that sing off on X factor! I want him to win! X”
Luke did, of course, stay in the competition – while Sam, who has been lambasted for his poor vocal ability throughout the series, was sent home.
The result meant that Louis Walsh became the fourth and final judge to lose a member of his category.
