Spoiler alert! The judges’ categories for this year’s series of The X Factor appear to have leaked.
Several news outlets are claiming to have heard from gossipy insiders that Sharon Osbourne, Nicole Scherzinger, Gary Barlow and Louis Walsh were told by Simon Cowell who they would be mentoring yesterday – before the Boot Camp stage. They had previously been informed of the news prior to the Judges’ Houses round.

Apparently Louis Walsh will mentor the Boys this year – marking the first time since 2005 that he has not been dealt the Groups or the Over 28s. Nicole Scherzinger, who had victory last year with the Boys category, will this year take charge of the Girls.
Sharon Osbourne has been lumbered with the dreaded Over 28s, who have not produced a winner since the very first series when Steve Brookstein won. That said, Olly Murs – who finished second in 2009 – has proven that stars can definitely be found in that age bracket.
Finally, Gary Barlow has been given the groups. As the frontman of Take That, we can imagine he’s pleased with that decision! Walsh has this week said that he would leave the show at the end of this series, which is his 10th. Osbourne has also made no secret of the fact that she is only back on board for one series.
