Sinead O’Connor to Miley Cyrus: How would you feel if Britney Spears was mocked?

Sinead O’Connor has dragged Britney Spears into the middle of their ongoing feud. The singer wrote an open letter to Cyrus earlier this week as a response to the ex-Disney star saying her new video ‘Wrecking Ball’ was inspired by Sinead’s ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’. In it, she warned her against being “prostitued” by the music industry.

Cyrus responded by posting a snapshot of a series of tweets O’Connor posted two years ago when suffering from mental health issues. She also compared her to the notably troubled Amanda Bynes.

O’Connor reacted angrily in a second letter, prompting Cyrus to say bluntly that she was too busy with preparation for Saturday Night Live to give a lengthy defence for her actions.

Now, O’Connor has hit out in a THIRD letter – in which she mentions Miley’s pal Britney Spears, who has also struggled with mental health problems in the past.

“You have no business abusing Amanda Bynes or anyone else. How do you think you made her feel yesterday? How do you feel when your friend Britney Spears is mocked and humiliated for having had mental health problems?,” she asked. “I know I personally want to bash those who treat her that way. If she is your friend and more importantly if you are a true friend to her.. you ought apologise for joining those who mock and humiliate women who have been too nice frankly, to manage the music business without sensibly losing their minds.”

She added that she has been “distressed” by Miley’s fans’ barrage of hatemail.
