US actor Mike Vogel has said he is thrilled with the reaction to new TV show Under The Dome, in which he stars.
The American thesp plays a character called Barbie in the show, which is based on work by writer Stephen King. The show has had a massively positive reaction, even breaking ratings records in the US.
Speaking to Digital Spy, he said:
“It’s kind of funny because we’re here in Wilmington, North Carolina which is a smaller town and it’s pretty much unaffected by Hollywood and celebrity and stuff like that, which is fantastic. You don’t feel the heat that it has around the country and around the world. You hear about it, but it’s not quite a reality.
“We just went to Comic-Con and had such a great response to the show, and it’s kind of the first time we pulled our head out of the sand here and perked up and said, ‘Oh, wait a minute, people are actually watching this thing!’ So it’s been really nice.”
He went on to say:
“It’s a huge blessing.”
Teasing what lays ahead, he explained:
“As the show goes on, we spend the first half of the season getting into the reality of the situation that we’re facing, the chaos, the shortages of water, and weather, and this, that and the other thing, but also we start – as the second half of the season goes on – we mix that world with the sci-fi and the mystical of what’s happening with this dome.
“The dome becomes a much larger character itself in the second half of the season, and our cliffhanger at the end of it all brings both of those worlds together for a great season ending.”
Are you watching Under The Dome? What do you think?
